Team-led initiatives with demonstrable evidence of how goals were achieved will be looked upon favourably, as will evidence of how the organization worked to overcome a key challenge.

Property Catastrophe Reinsurer of the Year
This award recognises the work of a property catastrophe reinsurer that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including a firm’s comparative catastrophe losses to other reinsurers, diversified business growth, and catastrophe response, among other factors. Demonstrable evidence of a reinsurer’s actions to help its clients reduce and manage catastrophe losses will be looked upon favourably.

Casualty Reinsurer of the Year
This award recognises the work of a casualty reinsurer that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including including a firm’s comparative casualty losses to other reinsurers, diversified business growth, and underwriting results, among other factors. Demonstrable evidence of a reinsurer’s ability to help its clients reduce and manage casualty losses will be looked upon favourably.

Specialty Reinsurer of the Year
This award recognises a specialty reinsurer that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including the firm’s ability to provide a variety of tailored solutions for clients, diversified business growth, and client service, among other factors. Demonstrable evidence of the specialty reinsurer’s actions to help its clients reduce and manage losses will be looked upon favourably.

Retail Broker of the Year

This award recognizes a retail insurance broker that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, the amount of business placed, client retention levels, and overall growth, among other factors.  

Wholesale Broker of the Year
This award recognizes a wholesale insurance broker that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, client retention levels, business growth and proven ability to provide access a variety of specialty insurance markets. Demonstrable evidence of the wholesaler’s performance in helping clients insure a variety of hard-to-place risks will be looked upon favourably.

Reinsurance Broker of the Year (Treaty)
This award recognises the work of a reinsurance broker that excelled in placing a client’s entire book of business between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, client-retention levels, an increase in business facilitated, and other factors.  

Reinsurance Broker of the Year (Facultative)
This award recognises the work of a reinsurance broker that excelled in placing single or defined packages of risks for clients between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, client-retention levels, increase in business, and other factors.  

Excellence in Claims Service Award
This award recognises an insurer or reinsurer that exhibited stellar performance in handling claims between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including speed of claims response, consistent efficiency, and general service levels. Demonstrable evidence of a how a firm handled a particularly challenging series of claims will be looked on favourably, as will evidence of innovations that aided in the process.

InsurTech of the Year
This award recognises the work of an InsurTech that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including financial performance, business growth, and how the firm has created a solution of demonstrable value to the re/insurance industry. Both independent InsurTechs and those developed in incubators by established re/insurance companies will be considered.

InsurTech Accelerator/Incubator of the Year
Entrants will demonstrate excellence between June 2019 and June 2020 in a number of ways, including level of InsurTech project support and the effectiveness of the solutions yielded. Evidence of actions the incubator has itself taken to improve InsurTech performance will be looked on favourably, particularly where the incubator has gone above and beyond expectations. Please include in the essay section thorough details on the incubator, the InsurTechs developed, and the value they deliver.

 


INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Up-and-Coming Broker of the Year
To be awarded to an individual broker who has been working in the re/insurance industry for less than seven years who has displayed exceptional ability as well as the potential for further excellence in years to come. Performance will be exhibited in client service, re/insurance broking expertise, and commitment to the organization.

Up-and-Coming Underwriter of the Year
To be awarded to an individual underwriter who has been working in the re/insurance industry for less than seven years who has displayed exceptional ability as well as the potential for further excellence in years to come. Performance must be exhibited in consistently solid underwriting and commitment to an insurer or reinsurer.  

Insurance Broking CEO of the Year
To be awarded to an insurance brokerage CEO who inspired excellence across their company between June 2019 and June 2020. This individual will have exhibited strong leadership skills and decision-making that has been at the heart of the brokerage’s improved performance. The company’s financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth will all be considered.

Insurance CEO of the Year
To be awarded to a CEO who led a successful and highly regarded primary-side insurer between June 2019 and June 2020. This individual will exhibit strong leadership skills and decision-making that has inspired, among other things, positive underwriting results, improved financial performance, business growth and a competitive combined ratio.  

Reinsurance Broking CEO of the Year
To be awarded to a reinsurance broking CEO who inspired excellence across their company between June 2019 and June 2020. This individual will have exhibited strong leadership skills and decision-making that has been at the heart of the brokerage’s improved performance. The company’s financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth will all be considered.



Software Innovation of the Year
Awarded to an organization or company that released a solution of significant value to the re/insurance industry between June 2019 and June 2020. Software-as-a-service (SAAS) solutions will be considered.

Rating Agency of the Year
This award recognises a single rating agency that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including the quality of its market intelligence, the ability to consistently provide fair and accurate assessments, and innovations to the ratings process, among other factors. Demonstrable evidence of how the agency has provided dependable, original insight to the benefit of the industry will be looked upon favourably.

Risk Modeller of the Year
This award recognises the work of a risk modelling firm that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020.  Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including client service levels, precision/accuracy of the models developed, and/or successful deployment of innovation in the science of risk modelling. Demonstrable evidence of a modeller’s response to a major event and its subsequent service to clients will be looked for, with a focus on where the risk modeller has gone above and beyond typical expectations to distinguish itself in this field.

Financial Advisory Firm of the Year
This award recognises the work of a financial advisory firm that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including client service levels (including targets reached), expertise in serving the needs of insurance and reinsurance companies, and growing and improving its standing in the insurance industry. Demonstrable evidence of a how a firm has aided a re/insurance company in achieving an enviable result will be looked upon favourably.

ILS Fund Manager of the Year
This award recognises the work of an ILS fund manager that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including client-service levels, client investment returns, and business growth.

Insurance Asset Management Firm of the Year
This award recognises the work of an insurance asset management firm that performed especially well between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including client-service levels, investment performance, and how it has grown and improved its standing in the re/insurance industry. Demonstrable evidence of a how a firm has significantly improved a client’s investment performance will be looked upon favourably.

Legal Firm of the Year
This award recognises the work of a legal firm that excelled in serving/representing an insurer or reinsurer between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including client service levels, re/insurance expertise, and how it has grown and improved its standing among re/insurance industry clients.  

Marketing/PR Team of the Year
This award recognises the work of a single marketing/PR team that excelled between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including how they have improved or enhanced the company’s overall reputation, increased brand awareness or led a successful marketing campaign, with clear examples of how the team has driven this success. The team in question could be either an internal department or a third-party firm.

Analytics of the Year (by an Insurance/Reinsurance Broker)
Awarded in recognition of especially valuable data provided to clients/prospects between June 2019 and June 2020. Special projects may be entered, and firms that demonstrate they consistently provide analytics of particular proprietary value will also be considered.

Capital Raising of the Year
This award recognises the most impressive example of capital raising between June 2019 and June 2020, illustrating a marked impact on the execution of a major ambition. Excellence will have been demonstrated in the amount of capital raised relative to the size of the company, evidence of capturing investor enthusiasm, and evidence of a clear vision for what the capital will be used for.  

Launch of the Year
This award recognises the most impactful market launch between June 2019 and June 2020. Entries ranging from a new product line to a new divisional unit to a new company may be considered. The new solution/entity will display the ambition to bring something original to the re/insurance market, and will have proved the concept as successful either through market uptake, business growth, or financial performance. Evidence of how the launch has introduced something innovative and innovative to the market will be looked upon favourably.

M&A Transaction of the Year
This award recognises the most impactful merger-and-acquisition transaction to the re/insurance market between June 2019 and June 2020. This deal will have far-reaching impact on the industry at large.

ILS Innovation of the Year
This award recognises the most impactful ILS transaction completed between June 2019 and June 2020. The resulting solution will display the ability of the re/insurance industry and investors to together produce a product of particular value to re/insurers.

Coverage Innovation of the Year
This award recognises the work of an insurer or reinsurer that created a new, especially effective coverage solution between June 2019 and June 2020. Demonstrable evidence of how this innovation was conceived, developed and implemented to the company’s business advantage will be looked on favourably.

Diversity & Inclusion Award
This award recognises the work of a company that excelled in promoting diversity and inclusion between June 2019 and June 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this in a number of ways, including a firm’s marked improvement in D&I levels, consistent support for D&I initiatives, and a company’s industry-wide commitment to promoting diversity. Demonstrable evidence of how a company has included a variety of abilities, skills, experiences and cultural backgrounds in all stakeholders – as well as leveraging those differences to achieve superior results – in the U.S. market will be looked upon favourably.


Reinsurance CEO of the Year 
To be awarded to a CEO who led a successful and highly regarded reinsurer between June 2019 and June 2020. This individual exhibits strong leadership skills and decision-making that has inspired, among other things, positive underwriting results, improved financial performance, business growth and exceptional service to its insurer clients.  

Diversity & Inclusion Champion of the Year 
To be awarded to an individual who has led efforts to cultivate a more diverse and inclusive organization between June 2019 and June 2020. This person will have shown evidence of challenging either their own company or the U.S. market as a whole to possess a more diverse workforce and has gone above and beyond in spearheading such efforts. Evidence of how the individual has passionately supported such an initiative and helped deliver measurable progress will be looked upon favourably.

Innovator of the Year 
To be awarded to an individual who has led the way in introducing new, valuable concepts or products to either a company or to the industry as a whole between June 2019 and June 2020. This person will have disrupted an established industry practice in a positive way and/or created a new business solution, and has driven improved performance at their organization as a result.

The Legacy Award 
Posthumous Honor bestowed upon an individual whose impact on the industry is especially notable.

Lifetime Achievement Award 
To be awarded to an individual whose work and career have had a significant and lasting positive impact on the U.S. market.
